Julia Salafranca Gómez

Biography

I am a DPhil student working on molecular regulation of neutrophil responses in inflammation at the Kennedy Institute of Rheumatology, funded by the Kennedy Trust Prize Studentship. Furthermore, I am part of the Research into Inflammatory Arthritis Centre Versus Arthritis (RACE) program, which brings together expertise from the universities of Birmingham, Glasgow, Newcastle, and Oxford, and is funded by the charity Versus Arthritis. I am originally from Spain, and prior to joining University of Oxford, I graduated from the University of Glasgow with a First Class Honours in MSci Immunology. As part of my 5-year integrated masters, I carried out my placement year at the Gent university-VIB institute working on spondyloarthritis. I am interested in translational research, with a focus on rheumatoid arthritis. In addition, I am passionate about patient and public involvement and engagement (PPIE) and teaching. As a Brilliant club member, I will be delivering tutorials based on my research topic to support less advantaged students to access the most competitive universities.
