Mark Coles

Biography

Professor Mark Coles moved to Oxford from the University of York in 2017, and was appointed Director of Graduate Studies in 2018. He is the co-founder of Simomics Ltd, a company founded to develop evidencing tools and computational models that can help businesses and other organisations make informed, and Lightox Ltd, a light-based therapy company.

Mark is based in the Kennedy Institute of Rheumatology. His research focuses on combining experimental and computational approaches to understand immune function and translate the outcomes into human therapeutics. He was recognised in the 2020 Recognition of Distinction exercise, which confers the title of full professor to academics who make "a significant and sustained academic contribution to the University". 

Mark is a founding fellow of Reuben College and responsible for leading the Cellular Life research theme.
