Professor Jane McKeating undertakes research to better understand early infection events that define cellular and tissue tropism of clinically important viruses. Her current focus is on hepatitis B and C viruses that cause progressive liver disease and can develop into hepatocellular carcinoma. She is working to identify new therapeutic approaches to limit viral infections and design improved anti-viral therapies.

Jane holds a Hans Fischer Senior Fellowship and visiting Professorship at Technical University Munich and was awarded the Founders Award for Research Excellence at University of Birmingham in 2015.
