Vacation Opening Hours and Facilities

Winter Closures 2023

Many of the college staff and contractors will be taking well-deserved breaks in December, with thus some reduction in college services compared to ‘term-time provision’. 

A number of Bank Holidays also fall during this period (when many shops and city services will be closed) and University departments (including libraries) will in the main be shut between 21st December and 1st January inclusive.

The chart below should provide a handy guide as to what (and who) is available at Reuben over the Christmas period

[1] To ensure our Porters have a clear break, the college will be closed for short period (23rd-26th and 30th-1st). Between 27th-29th December the College will be open 8am – 6pm only and the facilities team available for call-outs only

[2] To enabling our catering contractors to take breaks, service is suspended for two weeks over Christmas and Easter, and for one month each summer - more details can be found here.

[3] The Student Assistance Programme (SAP) remains available 24/7, including bank holidays. The SAP, and College sub-deans, will have emergency College contact numbers

[4] From 13th December – 1st January inclusive, any urgent mails should be re-directed to academic.office@reuben.ox.ac.uk,  which outside of Bank holidays and weekends will be checked at least once a day.

[5]  The comms account will not be checked after 17th December, and the events account after the 19th, until re-opening in the New Year.

[6] Call-outs only: details will be sent separately to Farndon Court and Winchester Road Residents

[7] Deadlines for expense claims and payment runs will be earlier than normal in December.
