Wellcome Trust Career Development Award granted to Reuben Research Fellow

Congratulations to Reuben Research Fellow, Rebecca Berrens, who has been granted a competitive 8 year career development award by the Wellcome Trust, to establish her research on transposable elements (TEs).

TEs are mobile elements that can affect gene expression, and have been associated with various developmental disorders. Rebecca’s research will focus on employing a novel method (CELLO-seq) to study TE expression in individual cells, and test specific hypotheses. The results will provide insights into the role of TEs in development; with implications for stem cell, developmental and regenerative biology.
