Anita Makori

Biography

Anita is a Science graduate from Kenya with a specialization in Epidemiology and Biostatistics. She is currently pursuing an MSc in International Health and Tropical Medicine as a Mastercard Foundation-AfOx scholar.

Before joining Oxford, she worked as a Data Scientist at the Center for Epidemiological Modelling and Analysis (CEMA-Africa) at the University of Nairobi. While there, she collaborated with the Ministry of Health and other government bodies, offering valuable health-related analytical insights to aid policy and decision-making processes. Her research interests revolve around the application of epidemiological modelling to tackle pressing public health challenges, particularly in the realm of infectious disease control.

By acquiring expertise in international health research, she aims to explore and understand the multi-faceted causal effects of public health challenges, particularly infectious diseases. The insights from her studies will be invaluable in designing innovative and tailored policies and interventions to reduce the morbidity and mortality of these diseases. This, in turn, will help address the systemic drivers of health disparities not only in Kenya but also in sub-Saharan Africa.
